What this work covers
Ceiling wallpaper is installed overhead while the full sheet is supported, aligned, and brushed into place. It is less forgiving than wall work: two people need to keep the first strip straight, press every seam, and trim around lights, detectors, access panels, and air-conditioning openings without leaving cuts beyond their covers.
When this work is needed
Use it for a new wallpaper ceiling or to replace a worn finish. If the ceiling shows a leak stain, mould, a moving crack, or sagging plasterboard, repair the cause first. Fresh wallpaper will not stop moisture or structural movement from showing through again.
Decide before installation
Overhead sheets are difficult to reposition, so settle the finish and the concealed preparation before paste is mixed.
- Wallpaper type, pattern direction, first-strip line, and seam locations
- Repairs to stains, joints, fixing marks, and uneven ceiling areas
- How lights, detectors, access panels, and air-conditioning edges will be finished
- A safe two-person work platform, floor protection, and natural drying time
