Electrical wiring turns the lighting, socket, and appliance plan into conduits and boxes inside the walls and ceiling, then pulls and connects each circuit at the distribution panel. Once finishes close over the routes, changes are disruptive, so loads, dedicated circuits, earthing, and test evidence need to be settled first.
When this work is needed
Review the wiring when lighting positions, switch arrangements, or socket numbers change, or when high-load appliances such as induction hobs and air conditioners are added. If only a fitting is replaced in the same position, first confirm that the existing cable, earth, and breaker meet the new product requirements.
Decide before closing walls and ceilings

Are new and moved lights, switches, and sockets counted by room?
Are cable, conduit, and recessed-box types and sizes specified?
Are dedicated circuits and new or replaced panel breakers identified separately?
Are earthing, insulation, continuity, and protective-device tests plus retesting included?
Will you receive the circuit schedule and route photographs before closure?
What to check on site
This work is not simply adding more outlets. It distributes real appliance loads across protected circuits and records the safe routes before they disappear.
01Plan and Panel Check Complete
Compare the lighting and appliance plan with the existing panel schedule. Separate retained circuits from new dedicated circuits, and size cables and breakers from the rated loads of induction hobs, air conditioners, and other heavy appliances.
02Conduit and Box Embedding Complete
Run conduits and secure switch and socket boxes at finished heights and furniture positions. Check that conduits are not sharply bent or crushed and that boxes will finish flush with plasterboard, tile, or panelling rather than disappear behind it.
03Dedicated Circuits and Communication Conduit Complete
Route dedicated appliance circuits and data conduits separately to their final positions. Maintain separation between power and communication lines and check actual product dimensions so connections remain accessible after cabinetry is installed.
04Wire Pulling and Connections Complete
Pull the specified conductors and distinguish line, neutral, and earth before termination. No bare copper should sit outside a terminal, multiple conductors should not be forced into an unsuitable terminal, and insulation must not be pinched inside the box.
05Testing and Cleanup Complete
Before closing, test insulation, earth continuity, polarity, and residual-current protection, then operate each switch against the planned light. Hand over the passed circuit schedule and photographs of every concealed route for future drilling and repairs.
Where problems usually start
Crushed or sharply bent conduitCables may become impossible to pull, and excessive pulling force can damage their insulation.
Misaligned recessed boxA box set at the wrong height or angle leaves the switch or socket crooked and loose after finishing.
Loose or exposed terminationPoor tightening or exposed copper can cause short circuits, overheating, and fire.
High loads sharing one circuitLarge appliances on a general circuit can repeatedly trip the breaker during normal use.
Missing earth connectionWithout a continuous earth path, a fault can leave accessible metal at a dangerous voltage.
Do not solve repeated tripping by fitting a larger breaker. Check the actual load, cable size, circuit separation, overheated joints, and leakage first.
Before closure, retain each circuit's start and end, conduit route, box position and height, panel schedule, and insulation and earth-test results as one record set.
Timing and records
Allow about 16 to 24 hours of site wiring. Circuit count, chasing, dedicated circuits, and data routes can change this, while testing, repairs, and panel work may need separate time.
Keep the final electrical and lighting plans, cable and breaker conditions by circuit, conduit and box routes, termination and earth photographs, panel schedule, and test results.
