Choose By Use First
A faucet is a fixture category, not one specification. Start with the exact location, outlets, and model. For a kitchen, check spout height and reach, swivel range, and pull-out hose. For a basin, check where the stream lands and how it will splash. For a bath or shower, identify every outlet and diverter. For sensor or temperature-control models, confirm power, valve layout, temperature limit, fallback operation, and service access. Do not rely on the feature name alone.
Fit Holes, Reach, And Clearances To The Site
Use the product drawing to confirm hole count, centers and diameter, permitted deck or fixture thickness, shank length, spout height and reach, and handle movement. A single-hole or standard label does not prove that an existing opening will fit. Compare the drawing with the sink or basin, drain, wall, mirror, shelf, counter edge, and handle clearance in plan and section.
A tall faucet can splash in a shallow bowl; a short reach can make hands or cookware awkward to use. A pull-out hose and counterweight must clear drawers, waste pipes, and storage below the counter. For a concealed faucet or shower, fix valve direction, depth, support, inlets, and outlets before the wall is finished. Confirm trim-to-valve compatibility, waterproofed penetrations, and access to service a cartridge or diverter. The same brand does not guarantee a compatible valve body and trim.
Check Supply, Pressure, And Valve Conditions
The quote should identify hot and cold orientation, connection thread, hose length, stop-valve location, the manufacturer's working-pressure range, and the test pressure behind any maximum-flow value. Low site pressure can affect spray or diverter performance; changing or excessive pressure can add noise and stress to connections. Compare measured static and dynamic pressure with the product limits and specify pressure reduction, check valves, or water-hammer control only where the site requires them.
Read a water-saving grade or maximum flow with faucet type, test pressure, and the applicable rule. For Korea, verify the exact model's water-contact hygiene-safety certification, number, manufacturer or importer, and current document. Do not turn a certificate or sensor operation into an antibacterial, maintenance-free, or whole-system drinking-water claim. Temperature-control products also need compatible supply temperature and pressure, valve and trim, outlets, and water-heater capacity.
Commission Flow, Temperature, And Leaks
Before installation, inspect supply pipes, stop valves, hoses, and threaded connections, then flush the lines as the manual requires. Do not kink or twist hoses. Support the body and concealed valve, and use a sealant approved for both the product and the finished surface.
After water is on, operate hot and cold water, the full handle range, spray and diverter functions, pull-out return, shower outlets, or sensor. For a thermostatic model, measure the stop and maximum temperature. Inspect the body underside, hose ends, stop valves, threaded joints, concealed valve, and waterproofed penetrations while flowing and after shutoff. Record the model, installation photos, valves, hoses, sealant, measurements, warranty, and service contact.
Care For The Finish And Service Parts
Use mild detergent, water, and a soft cloth, then rinse and dry. Do not use abrasives, rough pads, chlorine bleach, acids, or solvents unless the product instructions permit them. Chrome, nickel, matte, PVD, and painted finishes can have different cleaner and warranty limits.
If flow drops or the stream becomes uneven, follow the model procedure for the aerator, head, or filter. Cartridges, O-rings, hoses, sensors, solenoids, batteries, and thermostatic cartridges are model-specific. For a concealed system, distinguish work reachable through the trim from work that opens the wall, and confirm local parts and service support before purchase.
