What to check on site
Waste removal is a controlled movement through shared spaces, not simply tidying the room. Plan sorting, loading, transport, and the empty-site handoff as one continuous route.

Before demolition, agree how timber, metal, tile, concrete, and mixed waste will be separated and what bags or bulk containers will be used. Match lift bookings and vehicle arrival with building rules, including ground control and a pedestrian diversion where material could fall. - Sort and remove waste

Pack each waste type without overloading. Keep sharp metal and broken tile inside the container, then follow the agreed route while checking that corridor and lift protection has not shifted or torn. - Clean the site

After removal, vacuum small fragments and fine dust. Check exposed pipe caps, floor and frame damage, and retained materials that could have been taken by mistake, then clear the route and workface for the next team's tools and deliveries.
Where problems usually start

- Mixed waste loads A disposal facility may refuse a mixed load or charge for additional sorting when incompatible materials are packed together.
- Hidden service damage Damage to a pipe concealed by debris may be discovered only by the next trade, making responsibility and delay difficult to resolve.
- Fragments and dust on the floor Nails, screws, and fine dust contaminate screed and waterproofing surfaces and create an avoidable safety risk.
If the waste volume or mix differs from the quote, photograph the additional material and agree the disposal route and price rather than hiding it in a mixed load.
Do not cover service damage with final cleaning. Record its location and condition and hand it to the responsible trade for a repair decision.
Timing and records
Allow roughly four to eight hours for two assistants. Volume, material type, floor level, hoist access, and permitted lift time can all change this, so distinguish packing, removal, and final cleaning in the programme.
Keep photos of sorted loads, bag counts, shared-area protection, completed removal or disposal records, exposed pipes and cables, and the vacuumed floor. Also retain the handoff made to the next trade.
