Test the fabric in daylight and after dark
A bright showroom or daytime product photo cannot show the final privacy, folds, and length at your own window.
- How much can people see at night?
- When the room is bright and outside is dark, the interior may be visible through the fabric. Hang a sample at the window and switch the room lights on.
- Will the curtain look full enough when it is hung?
- The amount of fabric used compared with the window width changes both how full the curtain looks and the view through it. Put the finished width, length, and amount of fabric in the quote.
- Will the size hold after cleaning?
- Fiber content and weave affect shrinkage and wrinkles. Read the exact washing, drying, and ironing instructions before deciding the finished length.

Quote a finished curtain, not fabric alone
Two fabrics at the same price can hang very differently once the finished width, folds, top attachment, and rail are included.
- Test the sample in daylight and with the room lights on after dark, then decide whether a second curtain is needed.
- Record the measured window, finished width and length, amount of fabric, and intended gap above the floor.
- Choose the rod or ceiling or wall rail, how the top edge attaches, and the direction in which the curtains will open.
- If the room requires fire-retardant or another tested result, confirm the report and the conditions it covers for the selected fabric.
